FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT
FROM SEVERAL PROVINCIAL SOURCES

There are several Provincial Law Societies or similar organizations with programmes allowing any one to call them up and hear a recorded blurb, or check out their web site to access information, on a particular topic of concern. These are all in an easy to digest and understand format and they provide an excellent source of information. They may have been written by lawyers, but they aren't in "legalese".

The ones I could find are listed below. In each one you will need to scroll through the listing of subjects to find what you want, but this is certainly well worth the effort.

  • Family Law Audio Tape Transcripts for Family Law Subjects from The Law Society of Upper Canada

There are a number of Family Law topics in the form of a brief telephone script - which is what they used to be, just like British Columbia still is. Scroll down the headings to get to the 15 specific Family Law topics.

  • British Columbia Dial A Law: Family Law Subjects

Scroll past the listing of all their topics and you will arrive at the Family Law section. This is similar to the Ontario format, but I don't know which came first. It looks as though someone borrowed heavily from the other.

  • Public Legal Education Society of Nova Scotia

This site has a listing of various publications available by this organization. Many of their booklets are available on the Internet and the ones on Family law matters are great.

  • Canadian Legal FAQs: Questions and Answers developed by the Legal Resource Centre, University of Alberta

Once again, there are a selection of Family Law topics with information neatly and clearly set out.

  • Divorce Law in Canada - An Introduction

Scroll down to get to their list of topics, then go down further to get to Canada Wide Law Pages.

  • Frequently Asked Questions - The FLC's own source for easy and bite sized Family Law information

If you are reading this with a frame on the left, then you are already at this page. If you are reading this without the frame, click here to get to the FLC's full Frequently Asked Questions Directory .
