Child
and Family Abuse Sites
Health
Canada's National Clearinghouse on Family Violence
Health Canada has a deep site with lots of material but one of the
most interesting sections is the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence.
From that section's home page you can see various new publications and
get to their Index of Publications. They have scores of publications viewable
in either PDF or HTML format on the full gamut of family violence topics:
Abuse of Older Adults, Child Abuse, Child Sexual Abuse, Family Violence,
and Woman Abuse. Throughout all of the many, many downloadable and printable
publications there's even one titled with Husband
Abuse: An Overview of Research and Perspectives. If abuse in any form
is a factor in any of your cases, here's the place to get informed in
a meaningful way. Congratulations to our federal government in action.
The
Public Legal Education Service of New Brunswick
This site has an outstanding section on Family Violence with all sorts
of information, including a section on coping strategies and a PDF booklet
"A Legal Rights Handbook for Abused Women". If you have a client
dealing with abuse, this is another great site to refer them to.
Centre for Children
& Families in the Justice System of the London Family Court Clinic
This is a non-profit agency "advocates for the special needs of children
and families involved in the justice system" and has, amongst other
features, detailed Links pages for Child
Abuse and Relationship
Abuse. Each of these pages has the links collected under Canadian
sites and U.S. & International Sites. There are links to resources
in many individual Canadian cities and you might want to see if this is
an easy way to start finding resources in your own community.
